The Mission of IAC is to promote the responsible use of antimicrobials in order to relieve the environmental, health and aesthetic problems that microbial contamination causes.
The International Antimicrobial Council (IAC) is a not-for-profit entity that promotes the safe and effective use of antimicrobials to combat bacterial and fungal contamination in products in the international arena. The Council works with international regulatory bodies to provide public-private partnerships designed to benefit antimicrobial manufacturers, treated article producers and treated article users (consumers). The Council's IAC Laboratory Certification Program serves to establish the use of uniform procedures among participating microbiological laboratories so that test results generated by those laboratories, using industry standards, can be consistent and reproducible from one laboratory to the next. The Council works with retailers and brand name companies to provide quality assurance models and programs that verify the proper use of the antimicrobials they use in their products. IAC's marketing and technical seminars disseminate marketing research and technical development information to members and the Councils active engagement with regulatory bodies, marketing research and technical universities ensures its members that the IAC provides the most current information in these areas.
