IAC promotes scientifically sound methods of controlling and measuring microbial
contamination on products and in the environment.

About IAC

The IAC is a not-for-profit entity that promotes the safe and effective use of antimicrobials to combat
bacterial and fungal contamination in products in the international arena. The Council utilizes a Science Advisory Board (SAB) comprised of some of the most respected scientists from the fields of measurement science, microbiology and biochemistry. The Council and its SAB work with international regulatory bodies to provide public-private partnerships designed to benefit antimicrobial manufacturers, treated product producers and treated product users (consumers). The Council's IAC Laboratory Certification Program establishes uniform procedures among participating microbiological laboratories, using industry standards, to provide more consistent and reproducible test results from one laboratory to the next. The Council works with retailers and brand name companies to provide quality assurance programs and IAC's marketing and technical seminars disseminate marketing research and technical development information of benefit to the industry. Understanding whether antimicrobials are being used responsibly involves regulatory reviews, application monitoring and performance measurements.

The IAC Science Advisory Board is comprised of prominent scientists from the fields of measurement sciences, microbiology and biochemistry. The Science Advisory Board reviews the methods and the procedures used by IAC in the IAC laboratory certification program as well as the information provided in its conferences and seminars. IAC Science Advisory Board Members are also involved in multiple standards organizations and through those bodies are instrumental in the development of new and innovative test standards.

Directors and Science Advisory Board Members are available to consult with members as needed.
